Immigration Series #1

Immigration Series #1 (passive): elaborated in good conditions, voluntary character.

Beeswax, eucalyptus leaves, brass, steel wire.

2019

Immigration Series #1. Eucalyptus leaves, brass, steel wire. 2019

#1 [passive] elaborated in good conditions, voluntary character. For each piece I interviewed different people with different immigration status. All are remaining anonymously. This piece was inspired by the story of an individual who had a legal status in the US. The chosen materials all serve as metaphors to my interpretation of their stories. The fragility of this piece makes one with limited opportunities (complicated migratory journeys) feel with potential chances of breaking it rather than being on hands that have easy access to resources and privileges. That powerful accessibility overtakes fears due to the advantage of being privileged amongst other immigrants.
