Jocelyn Alsira Solis is an interdisciplinary Honduran artist-maker based in the city of Boston, MA. Jocelyn was raised between Virginia, (US) and Tegucigalpa and Olancho, (Honduras) where she initiated her formative practice in painting. Solis' practice continued after re-establishing permanently in Boston at the age of 13. She earned a BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She is now focused on creating jewelry as adornment for the body that stitches together her interest in nature and organic experimentations with sustainable practices through the use of natural fibers and recycled precious metals. Her exploratory practices are driven by conceptual and narrative personal commentaries on the memory and identity of the materials that are stimulated by the inherent beauty of nature and its universal vocabulary of imperfection that makes things be uniquely unrepeatable.
